Piramal Pharma Solutions (PPS) has announced the launch of a state-of-the-art payload-linker development and manufacturing suite at its Riverview, Michigan, drug-substance facility. This new suite is a pivotal part of the company’s US $ 90 million investment to expand its manufacturing capabilities in the United States and reflects the organization’s ongoing dedication to delivering innovative therapies for patients worldwide.
The Riverview facility, with its six-decade legacy in active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) and high-potency API (HPAPI) development, has long been a cornerstone of Piramal’s operations. Leveraging this expertise, the site now features the new payload-linker suite, which is purpose-built to support the growing demand for antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) and other bioconjugate therapies. As part of Piramal’s ADCelerate™ platform, the suite offers integrated, rapid solutions for phase 1 ADC development, enabling partners to accelerate their projects with top-tier containment, automation, and analytical technologies.
“The suite places world-class expertise, advanced technology, and commercial-scale payload-linker capabilities right here in Michigan, empowering our customers to accelerate the development and delivery of life-changing therapies, like ADCs,” noted Peter DeYoung, Chief Executive Officer of Piramal Global Pharma.
“This investment demonstrates our deep commitment to U.S.-based innovation and manufacturing, ensuring our partners benefit from unmatched efficiency, supply chain security, and a seamless path from concept to clinic for these critical medicines,” he added.
Global network
The Michigan suite is just one aspect of Piramal’s comprehensive global network spanning North America, Europe, and Asia. This network enables PPS to offer an end-to-end suite of services across the drug development life cycle, including drug discovery, process and pharmaceutical development, clinical trial supply, commercial API and finished dosage production, and specialized solutions for HPAPIs and antibody-drug conjugates. The company’s expertise extends to sterile fill/finish and biologics, including vaccines and gene therapies, through its associate, Yapan Bio.
The launch of the payload-linker suite is part of Piramal’s broader investment plan, which also includes upgrades to its sterile injectables facility in Lexington, Kentucky, further cementing the company’s position as a partner of choice for innovators seeking U.S.-based, patient-centric manufacturing solutions. Recent collaborations, such as the partnership with Ajinomoto Bio-Pharma Services*, exemplify Piramal’s drive to combine leading-edge conjugation technology with robust GMP manufacturing infrastructure, supporting tech transfer, scale-up, and commercial production for ADCs.

Note: * Under the collaboration agreement with Ajinomoto Bio-Pharma Services, Piramal will refer applicable customers seeking ADC manufacturing technology to Aji Bio-Pharma and AJICAP™. Aji Bio-Pharma will refer Piramal to customers as a potential CDMO for manufacturing products using AJICAP™ technology, supporting their programs across development and manufacturing.
